#2 – My orthodontic appliance is broken

The very first thing you should do if your appliance comes off or breaks is to not panic! Panicking will only make the situation feel worse.

It’s important to follow all advice and care instructions from your orthodontist to help prevent breakages.

Please also stick to soft foods to prevent breakages or further damage.

What to do if your orthodontic appliance breaks

Whether it’s the brackets, wires or attachments on braces, or the appliance arms that have broken, it’s important to be calm and notify your orthodontist as soon as possible.

Feel free to cover the broken area in orthodontic wax to prevent it from causing irritation or worsening.
