The brackets are the metal or ceramic piece that is attached to each individual tooth.
What to do when a braces bracket breaks?
Where is the loose or broken bracket located?
If the broken bracket is the furthest bracket back, you can simply slide the bracket off the wire.
However, if the bracket is on one of the front teeth and tied into the wire really well it is not a huge emergency. This issue may be irritating and cause slight pain and can be fixed by placing orthodontic wax over the bracket until it can be fixed by your orthodontist.
