Invisalign – The clear alternative to braces
Invisalign is an orthodontic treatment that involves wearing a series of custom-made aligners that helps with improving the misalignment of teeth. Each time you receive a new set of aligners, your teeth will move little by little until the final position has be achieved. This final position is usually prescribed by the orthodontist during the initial consultation.
Process of Invisalign
The Invisalign treatment is a step-by-step process which is tailored made for your specific needs. Before creating the aligners, an initial consultation will be organised where your orthodontist will use 3D technology to get a scan of your teeth and mouth. This technology can also be used to produce a 3D image to show how your teeth will look after the orthodontic treatment has been completed as well as step by step movement of every tooth.
Once the initial consultation and scan has been completed, the images from the scan will be sent across to Invisalign HQ where the aligners will be custom made using the same 3D technology.
Around every 6-8 weeks, you will come in and receive a new set of aligners. Each time you receive a new set of aligners, they will continue to move your teeth into the desired position.
To benefit from this treatment, it is recommended that you wear the aligners for at least 22 hours per day (including when you are sleeping).
Benefits of Invisalign
- Removable – The aligners are removable which means you can eat and clean your teeth without affecting the progress of your treatment.
- Discreet – No one can tell that you are undergoing orthodontic treatment. This treatment is also fantastic for people attending special events including weddings, formals and photoshoots.
- No special diet – Yes. That means that you can continue to consume all your favourite foods and drinks
- Fewer visits – There are little adjustments that are required compared to traditional metal braces. This means you only need to visit every 6 weeks to collect your new aligners.
